How long have you been in your industry?15 years
Why did you choose your industry?I've always enjoyed cooking. My mom was my inspiration and taught me how to bake and cook from my heart. After culinary school, I spent many years in corporate food services and became a private chef on the side. When my mom passed from COVID, I had the opportunity to buy a restaurant and pizza seemed like an easy choice for a first venture.
Who are your typical clients?As a pizzeria serving NY style slices, we get a lot of northerners and they just love us.
What do you like best about being in this industry?Being a small business, we have the opportunity to really get to know our guests. It's a relationship, you know? Food brings people together. I know it sounds cheesy, but it's true.
What are common problems you see?There's a lot of competition with pizzerias and Italian places. Plus so many of these places have been in Jax for such a long time. I think it's finding out what your people want.
When is your busy season?Football season and the holidays.
What keeps you up at night?When I have a big catering or private chef event. I'll dream crazy situations. Ask me about it!
How do you market yourself to grow/expand your business?We are planning to do some bulk mail, we have some social media posts (but it's hard to keep up with). We get a lot of word-of -mouth so that helps
How involved are you in the community?Not really. Got any ideas?
What is your favorite not for profit or charity?Anything to do with kids or animals
What advice would you give to someone thinking of getting into this business?Be ready to live in it.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?I love to hang out with my daughter and grandbaby. My husband and I like to go to the beach, walk nature trails. And of course, eat at restaurants!e
